SPC Sean Doherty
Biathlon
SPC Sean Doherty from Center Conway, New Hampshire, is a renowned biathlete and eight-time World Championship team member. He started biathlon at age 12, influenced by a family friend, and soon began training with former national team coach Art Stegen at Ethan Allen Firing Range. This laid the groundwork for his professional career, which included competing in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 Olympic Games.
Doherty joined the Army in November 2018 as a Carpentry and Masonry Specialist, seeking opportunities and benefits to support his athletic career. As a Soldier-athlete, he represents the United States with honor, embodying the discipline and commitment required by both the Army and his sport. His advice for young athletes is to cultivate multiple sources of support, emphasizing that the resources provided by the Army can extend beyond athletics into broader career growth.
Being a Soldier is something that I am very proud of. It is a powerful feeling to know that you represent your country and the legacy of excellence the US Army stands for.
