SSG Andrew Gelinas, a biathlete and Nordic combined specialist, hails from East Longmeadow, MA. He discovered skiing in high school, choosing it over hockey due to his family's intense schedule. As an athlete, he excelled at Suffield Academy and Saint Michael's College, earning All-East Team honors in 1990, 1991, and 1992. Gelinas enlisted in the Army National Guard in February 2009 as an 11B Infantryman. He now coaches military biathletes and travels the world working with elite athletes. His background as a ski coach has proven invaluable to his role in the Army, where he serves with pride and embraces the honor of wearing the uniform.

There is nothing better than being a Soldier/Coach. Hearing the National Anthem and being a Soldier is the greatest honor. I always tell potential Recruits that you have to want to wear the uniform in order to be the right person for WCAP.
