Bailey's athletic career includes medals at World Youth, World Junior, and World Indoor competitions. He started track and field after a football injury and broke the high school 400-meter record. Bailey joined the Army to reach the highest level in his sport while serving his country. He views his dual role as a "superhero Soldier by day, athlete by night."
