SGT Michael Jordan
3,000m Steeplechase
With a name like Michael Jordan, Michael figured he would try basketball first, but found it was not for him. He switched to cross country in high school – and rocketed from JV to all-state in a single season. He came to love the practice of running, as well as the team aspect. As a youth, his fourth place finish at the USA Juniors stood out: he ran a 9:00 in the 3000m steeplechase, and proved to himself that he could be one of the best runners in the country. His career since has taken him to the University of Southern Indiana, where he was a five-time All American and school record holder, and then to the New Jersey New York Track Club, where he qualified for the Olympic Trials. He also ran for the American Distance Project, which saw him place 12that the USA Track & Field Championships
I am America’s best! I will always strive to be the best for my country…in running, and war, if called upon.
