SFC Max Nowry
Greco-Roman Wrestling
55kg
Second grader Max had signed up for floor hockey, but the team didn’t form. His dad signed him up for wrestling instead, and Max’s athletic career began. Over a few years, he began to focus only on that sport, and he found that it taught him life lessons he could apply not just on the mat, but in the classroom and in his personal life. He won his first high school national title after his sophomore year, and continued to develop as an athlete. He was a resident athlete at Northern Michigan University’s United States Olympic Education Center. Since joining the Army, Max has made the past two national teams, won the 2018 US Senior Open Championships, and taken 2nd Place at the 2018 Pan American Championships.
The Army’s World Class Athlete Program has allowed me to pursue my lifelong goals in the sport of wrestling – and has given me the honor of being a Soldier-athlete for the greatest country on this planet.
