SFC Spenser Mango
Wrestling Coach
SFC Spenser Mango grew up playing football, but turned to wrestling due to its weight classes. He fell in love with the sport, winning high school state in his third year. He continued at the US Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University, earning a Bachelor's in Physical Education, and made his first Olympic and two world teams. After graduation, he joined the Army, making four more world teams and another Olympic team. SFC Mango retired his wrestling shoes in 2016 focusing his experience and skills as an elite coach for the WCAP’s wrestling team.
Being a Soldier-athlete is a great honor. There is nothing better than being able to represent your country, not just in your sport, but also as a Soldier in the United States Army. Both opportunities are extremely humbling and fulfilling.
