High School: Killeen High School
College: American Military University
Joined Army: January 2003
MOS: Electromagnetic Spectrum Manager

After a decade in the Army, Allan lost his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2013. He specialized in parabiathlon during his initial recovery at Walter Reed Medical Center, in Washington, DC. A move to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, made it hard for him to continue the sport, since one of its two events is cross country skiing. He switched to paratriathlon after a camp sponsored by the Given Limb Foundation, and found it had the intensity he craved. A month before reporting to WCAP, an injury prevented him from wearing his prosthesis for 3 months – but after his recovery, aggressive training led to his first place finish in the PTS2 Category at the 2017 National Championships. After only two years in WCAP, Allan has been selected for the 2018 World Championships.

I love paratriathlon because no matter who the competitors are, we treat each other like family and understand each other’s complications. There’s a mutual respect. We are all competitors on the race course, but friends off.
